S/FTP stands for S houded / Foiled T wisted P air and is sometimes simply called an FTP cable . The difference with a U/FTP and F/UTP cable is that both the sheath and the wire pairs of an S/FTP cable are provided with a shielding. It is therefore in fact a shielded UTP cable . The sheath has a braided shielding (S), the wires are protected by foil (F). An S/FTP cable is the best protected against interference. With an S/FTP cable you get the most stable connection and that is why we have a very large selection, with of course the best prices.
Various FTP cables
To better understand when to choose which 'FTP' cable, we would like to explain the differences. Perhaps it is a piece of cake for you, but we can also imagine that you are starting to get dizzy when looking for the right FTP cable. This has everything to do with the many different variants and the name change that FTP cabling has undergone. We list the 3 types of shielded Internet cables for you.
F/UTP
F/ = Foil (foil shielding of the entire cable)
/U = Unshielded (no shielding of the wire pairs)
T = Twisted (twisted pairs)
P = Pair (2 wires make 1 wire pair)
This is in fact the direct successor of the former FTP cable. The cable is shielded with a foil. This cable is available from us on a roll. View all Internet cable on a roll
U/FTP
U/ = Unshielded (no shielding of the entire cable)
/F = Foil (foil shielding of the wire pairs)
T = Twisted (twisted pairs)
P = Pair (2 wires make 1 wire pair)
Similar to F/UTP, but here the wire pairs are shielded (and the entire cable is not). This cable is available from us on a roll. View all network cable on a roll
S/FTP(!)
S/ = Screened (metal shielding of the entire cable)
/F = Foil (foil shielding of the wire pairs)
T = Twisted (twisted pairs)
P = Pair (2 wires make 1 wire pair)
This cable is therefore double shielded and that makes it a very suitable FTP cable to prevent interference. That is why we offer S/FTP cables in many colors and lengths and both on the roll and fully plug-and-play.
The funny thing is: an FTP cable doesn't really exist anymore. But it's also very simple: if you're in doubt and looking for a ready-made cable, choose S/FTP.
